Need Goals

I don't really do well without set goals. I need something to push me, so putting my goals out there for others to see and giving me an X to achieve daily will help.

Over the next 3 months I will.....
  1. Finish my stake and come out with a BR that will allow me to not be staked
  2. Get in better shape (I'm thinking 6 pack abs and from 205 down to about 175 maybe?)
  3. Start going out with women again
Now so far (as you've heard me preach before), these are just dreams. So to make them goals I need a plan.

Plan for #1
  • Step up and put in the time
  • I will play 21 hours of poker every week (not the lazy 10 to 12 hours I've been doing)
  • I will play my nitty A game (it's low variance and profitable, perfect for the stake)
Plan for #2
  • Continue to eat the way I have but cut out breads (hasn't been much, but none is better)
  • Continue to work with free weights 3 times a week (this is easy, I enjoy it)
  • Continue to run 3 miles 3 times a week (this sucked at first, but is easy now)
  • NEW: Joined a Krav Maga Gym LINK, start Monday 3 times per week
Plan for #3
  • This one will be less easy for me, dating still seems strange to think about
  • I'll start out easy, by not pursuing girls and accepting a few dates from tourists that wanna just go out and have fun, (usually get asked a few times a week)
  • Eventually I'll get back into the swing of it and comfortable with asking out local women I may want to see more of
  • Not looking for anything serious anyway, just some fun for now
Not going to give updates every X days on this, but I will give them every now and then. Not because I expect you to give a shit, just because I need something to answer too.

Starfish Really Loves You

Well March has been just a disgusting month. My redline which I normally keep even is going down like The Titanic and my blueline is bearly break even. My W$WSF has dropped 5% from norm (barely above 40% now) and my W$SD is below 50%. I don't play a lot now, so my sample is fairly small. About 23,000 hands, and I know I've had these runs lots of times, so I guess I just sit back and put up with it.

Next Tuesday I move into my new apartment. Got my own place, 2 bed 2 bath in a nice complex that's closer to work and Andrew's school. I get first 2 months free with 8 month lease, so that will save me some money in April and May. Then starting in June I may elect to rent out the 2nd room to one of the guys from work to save me money. Depends on if I get a promotion between now and then. A lot of talk from managers that a supervisor position will come up in May and I'll probably get it................heard that before though.

I also was approved to be an SFO, but I have to pass a class first. Armed Officer carrying a concealed weapon. Only thing is, I'm not super experienced with a gun, and the class is very very hard I'm told. 70% fail rate, although I'm told most people that fail it are cops that have bad handgun habits they won't break or people that just don't listen. It's a 4 week course starting late April. Kinda knew I was being approved for this a long time ago, but it was finally made official the other day.

I've seemed to plateau with my weight, I can't seem to get below 205, but I look like I'm losing fat. So I must be putting on muscle from my workouts. Not like bodybuilder muscle, that's dumb looking. I use light weights so I won't look like a buff moron, (hate that). Just enough to do the job of looking and feeling better than I did.

I was wearing a belt so I wouldn't have to buy new pants and shorts since they are all too big now. But now the belt I was wearing is too big, no holes left for me...........shit I was fat.

The Banana King

Gonna be moving at the end of this month..............again. The place I'm living now was not set up properly for AC, so the part of the home I'm in is 10 degrees hotter than the rest of the house and it's unacceptable now that it's getting hot out.

Poker killing me this month. Everyone hits every possible draw vs me, flushes, straights, gutshots, 2nd pair, runner runner BS......whatever they got, it gets there. Think I'm down 5 BI's for the month, but it's all ok, not living on the money so no real stress, just a little frustration. Ran hot last month, so I guess it's only fair? I hate fair.

Think I'll go out with some girls this week. I'm feeling it's time, just been a long time since I've dated so not quite sure where to start.

Too Drunk for Poker

So I'm standing at one of our bars last night watching ESPN, (yeah I can do that when it's slow), and this guy sits down at the table by me. I know he's a poker player, so I'm like hey how's it going, he says "good.......but I'm a bit drunk". I say "it would be fun to talk poker with you", he's like "yeah I would, but my heads spinning a bit, I need to sit and try to see straight and not think right now".

I say "okay, is there anything I can do for you"? He says "I'm too drunk to drive, but I need my phone, can you have valet pull up my car so I can get my phone then I'll take a cab".

Tilt Breaker




Trying this software out on a 15 day free trial they offer. I went through my play by day and figured out a nasty pattern. Seems that an extremely high percentage of the time I don't ever recover from 250+ Big Blind losing sessions. In other words if I had lost more than 2 and 1/2 buyins in a session, I usually just lost more or broke even for the rest of the session and later sessions in that day.

This software allows you to set a timer and limit. I set mine at $500 (250 BB) and 6 hours. So anytime I lose $500 it sits me out on all tables and won't let me sit back in for 6 hours.

Just got it yesterday and I had a very good day. Today I sit down, I get all in as a HUGE favorite vs a fish shoving all sorts of shit on 2 occasions. First one he hits a 3 outer and second time he hits a 4 outer. Few hands later a reg that I battle with often 3b's me and I know it's light so I out play him and get all in with TPTK on flop vs his pocket 2's only to be rivered by a 2 outer. This has all happened in a time span of 16 minutes and I'm about ready to kill something. Tilt Breaker shut me down right then and there. I sat back and thought, "hmmm, that's cool".

So now instead of continuing to 12 table pissed off, I'm here telling you about it. I'll buy this product when my trial runs out.

New Blog

February Stats


I changed blogs, thought a kewl new title was needed.

Playing FR on FTP is going well. I'm below EV and still above my goal bb/100, but I've only played 22,000 hands. I should be Black Card by the end of the month, which apparently does nothing for me. I'm shocked at how increadably soft the FTP games are compared to PS, and also happy to see PTR doesn't work on FTP, (unless they fixed that in last few days). As you can see from my stats, you can be a complete nit, and people will pay you off.

Things at work still going well. I've advanced high enough that I don't think I'd quit now even if I was makeing $200/hr from poker. I always get the best posts at work, I've started to make a lot of friends, and good looking women are finally hitting on me. (Probably helps that I've lost 40lbs and look like I did 15 years ago.)

I'm eating good and exercising a lot. 3 times a week on the weights, 1 time per week on intense cardio, and I'm eating different. I only eat healthy food, but I don't mean like salad and veggies. I mean as in ALL organic and free range food. I read that it matters more about the quality of the food than anything else, and holy shit it works for me. I feel awesome everyday all day, I lose fat so easy, and I still eat really good foods. No junk food though. Things like steak, burgers, lots of chicken (all from here http://www.grasslandbeef.com/StoreFront.bok?affiliate_no=524 ) . 5 meals a day all around 350 to 500 calories and protein shakes after workouts.

I've considered trying to get 6 pack abs. I know it's hard to do, but I think I can. I've already got 2 showing, but the bottom 4 still have a little fat around them. If I adjust my workout a little and cut some carbs out I think I can do it over a 3 month period. If I can do it, I wouldn't maintain them, just be cool to say I did it at my age. I won't try to convince you it's to "make me feel good about myself"...........of course it's for the ladies. I'm getting enough attention lately I want to look as good as I can for them, I'll probably accept one of these offers soon. Going to be serving Di with divorce papers soon, so I'm expecting her to cut me off from booty calls once that happens. Hell, she might flat out murder me, and I hate doing this too her, she's a great friend, just not the type of wife I can be with.
